Effect of plant extracts and TSWV inoculation on the RNA content of cowpea and greengram plants

The effect of foilar spray of antiviral principles (AVPs) and inoculation of tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) on the RNA content of cowpea and greengram plants while there was no change in the RNA content of AVPs treated, AVPs treated plus inoculated plants of cowpea and greengram and their content was at par with their respective healthy plants. As the days after inoculation increased the RNA content also increased in the both cowpea and greengram. Cowpea plants inoculated with TSWV recorded a mean number of 23.93 lesions as against 0.44, 0.39, 0.70 and 0 respectively in Cocos nucifera, Sorghum vulgare, Prosopis chilensis and Croton sparsiflorus AVPs treated plus inoculated plants.
