A field trial during the crop season of 1995 and 1996 was conducted to ascertain effective weed management in soybean with nine treatments of pre-emergence application of alachlor @ 2 kg/ha (50 EC & 10G), fluchloratin @ 1 kg/ha, clomazone @ 1.5 kg/ha, metribuzin @ 0.35 kg/ha, anilofos @ 1.5 kg/ha, 2 hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS, weed free and weedy check. The results showed that the cultural control of weeds like weed free treatment and hand weeding recorded highest grain yield and higher weed control efficiency while among the herbicides, clomazone @ 1.5 kg/ha gave higher weed control efficiency and seed yield of soybean than weedy check.
