Screening of potato germplasm for resistance to potato viruses x and y

During 1998-2000, a total of 48 CP Nos. from S.tuberosum germplasm collection were screened for their resistance against PVX & PVY CP No.1358 had shown combined resistance to PVX and PVY; CP No.1447 had resistance to PVY but was susceptible to PVX. Further five CP Nos, namely 1347, 1390, 1406, 1426 and 1439 had shown resistance against PVX even in third year. The virus resistant clones are being checked for the mechanism of resistance involved and will be used as parental lines.
