Leaf source capacity in flag leaf and its relationship with yield traits in rice were studied in this paper. The results showed that the difference of leaf source capacity in flag leaves among rice varieties was significant at 1% level and accordingly among genotypes in rice, indicating it is viable for rice varieties with high leaf source capacity to be selected. Also, there was variation of leaf source capacity in rice, and its variation coefficient within a rice variety was 6,917.34, suggesting that leaf source capacity could be regulated by cultivation techniques. Path analysis showed that active photosynthesis duration (APD) had the largest direct effects on leaf source capacity, while leaf area the smallest. Therefore, it is necessary for APD and IAPS to be regarded as goals and put into procedure in rice breeding. The results also showed that the relationship between leaf source capacity in flag leaf and yield per plant, dry weight per panicle, full spikelets per panicle were all positive significant at 1% level, but negative for the number of effective panicles
