Mean values of WTP [willingness to pay] quoted by all off-site respondents to preserve WNP [Wasur National Park, Eastern Indonesia] was IRP 78,263.89. On the other hand, for all on-site respondents, the average value of WTA [willingness-to-accept] compensation to leave WNP was IRP 9,496,495.00. Result of the Tobit regression analysis indicated that WTP values are affected positively by household income, educational attainment, and dummy variable water consumption. Age of respondent affected WTP values negatively. Results of multiple regression analysis pointed out that WTA values are affected positively by age of respondents, educational attainment, farm income, and the number of trees planted. Household income affected WTA negatively. The common variables that affect WTP and WTA compensation are age, educational attainment and household income. These variables are considered the determinants of the economic value of WNP. Results of the study can be used as basis for policy recommendation of the management of WNP so the park can continuously provide benefits to people not only in Irian Jaya but also to others who love to enjoy nature
