Karyotype of the crossbred between Bos javanicus and Bos banteng sires and domestic dams

Karyotypes were prepared for the crossbred progeny of 9 sires and 125 dams. The normal chromosome complement of Bos Javanicus (n=3) were 2n=60 and crossbred Bos frontalis (1 male and 1 female) were 2n=60. Therefore, three types of chromosome complement of the crossbred, progeny of the Bos banteng and Bos javanicus sires and crossbred dams, were founded to be 2n=58, 2n=59 and 2n=60. However, the differences in chromosome complement between breed of sires were revealed. Most of the progeny of Bos javanicus had 2n=60 (n=45) and the progeny of Bos banteng sires had 2n=58 (n=13). Autosomal pairs in both sexes were acrocentric. The X chromosome were the largest submetacentric. And the Y chromosome was smallest metacentric.
