Nutritional values of natural grasses, elephant grass and rice straw as feed for cow at households in Ha Noi suburb

Analytical results show that dry matter content is from 20.44 to 49.78 percent, organic matter from 79.63 to 88.07 percent, crude protein from 10.67 to 19.26 percent in natural grasses 15.96 percent, 84.51 percent and 14.06 percent on elephant grass and 71.5 percent, 82.34 percent and 7.39 percent in rice straw harvested in October, respectively. In general, exchangeable energy value, digestible protein value in intestines, etc... are not high. Therefore, it is necessary to add some other high quality feeds to improve cow and cow milk quality.
