We studied the effect of two Azotobacter chroococcum strains on yield and quality of the sugarbeet variety Dana grown in field conditions on the calcareous chernozem soil. Seed inoculation with Azotobacter chroococcum increases sugarbeet yield and quality, both with and without application of mineral nitrogen. In this study, Azotobacter chroococcum strain 84 was more effective than strain 86. Both Azotobacter chroococcum strains under study reduced the contents of sodium and alfa-amino nitrogen in sugarbeet roots. Ecologically valuable and high-quality food is obtained by using nitrogen-fixing bacteria in sugarbeet production.
