[Presence of food of plant origin in nutrition of different socio-economic categories of population in Yugoslavia in the period 1991-1998]

The aim of this paper was to point out the nutrition quality for all socio-economic categories of population in Yugoslavia in observed period on the basis of average annual consumption of food of plant origin. It was done by comparison of real and scientifically recommended quantity of within this food group. We used descriptive and statistical methods. The results demonstated that there were significant differences in nutrition quality of population from different socio-economic categories during observed period. On the basis of obtained results, we concluded that nutrition structure of all observed categories is unsatisfactory and there is a risk factor for conditions disturbances and diseases. Also, inadequate nutrition is the reason for acquiring bad habits in nutrition of younger population in all socio-economic categories and for their health condition disturbances.
