In this paper, directions and objectives of the improvement of Domestic Spotted cattle and crossbreds in hilly mountainous regions of Serbia (Yugoslavia) are presented. Basic task is obtaining of high quality meat with minimal financial expenses in regard to providing of high quality animal food, housing, health protection, etc. Final body masses would be 550-600 kg without interferring the meat fat ratio. In this way food on pastures and meadows, now mostly wasted, could be used more efficiently. Proposed genotypes would enable development of export oriented programmes which have been neglected for such a long time.
