[Azotobacter and its activity in the potato]
2001
Najdenovska, O.V.
The influence of ten different strains of Azotobacter chroococcum on some groups of microorganisms in rhizosphere soil unter two potato cultivars. The efficacy of Azotobacter chroococcum depended on the strain of Azotobacter chroococcum, type soil microorganisms, potato cultivar, sampling time and research year. During the three years of research, the microbiological activity in the soil and quantity and quality of the potato has been increased the most by the strains 306 and 316. During the research, has been proved that certain quantities of mineral nitrogen might be replaced by biological nitrogen as more appropriate nitrogen for the plant. In this research, five strains have been selected which may replace 60 kg/ha of mineral nitrogen and one strain which may replace 90 kg/ha of mineral nitrogen. All examined strains of Azotobacter chroococcum have caused increasing of the quality of investigated potato cultivars. Using of Azotobacter in potato production would enable higher production and food with ecological high quality.
