Genetic variability and genetic gain from selection in synthetic populations of maize (Zea mays L.)
2002
Stankovic, G.
This thesis encompasses the study on genetic variability of quantitative traits, genetic gain from selection, heritability of observed traits and correlations between grain yield and other quantitative traits in ZP and ZP/USA maize synthetic populations on the basis of S1 and HS (L-75) progenies. The ZP synthetic population was developed from the local genetic material, while the ZP/USA population was derived from the introduced genetic material. The aim of this thesis was to observe and study changes of the stated parameters and to determine efficiency of the incorporation of introduced germplasm into the local population.
