Trials concerning the registration of sugarbeet varieties to the Moroccan official catalog started in 1979. They are carry on every two years in the five sugarbeet areas : west Morocco (Doukkala), center (Tadla), east (Moulouya) and north (Gharb and Loukkos). Until now, 151 varieties are registrated in the catalog and 25 eliminated, they were introduced by 18 seed producers. Their use permitted to improve sugarbeet production in Morocco. The objective of this work is to evaluate the gain achieved through the registration of new varieties in the official catalog. Comparison of sets means of every type in relation to the first year of registration permitted to conclude that: At the end of the 7th registration set, the rate of extractable sugar increased 2,6 t per ha for monogerm and multigerm varities of type N and multigerm varities of type E compared to the varities of the first registred set; Whereas type E monogerm varieties appraoched this rate at the end of the 4th set. The best root yield increase was obteined by monogerm type E varieties (29.6 t per ha) followed by E multigerm varieties (24,9 t per ha). The highest increase of pressure juice purity level was reached by N monogerm varieties (5,2/) followed by type E monogerm (2,8/), E polygerm (2,5/) and Z polygerm type varieties (2,1/).
