The purpose of the experiment was to investigate the effect of supplemental cellulase on the process of haylage making. To achieve our aim we prepared haylage in the folloing variants: I control, II - addition of 5 kg cellulase to 1t lucerne, III - addition of 2.5 kg cellulase to 1t lucerne and IV - addition of 0.4% formic acid. Folowing indeces (pH, ammonia, total nitrogen, water soluble nitrogen, trichloracetic acid, soluble nitrogen and isoluble nitrogen) were determined at 1, 3, 7, 15 and 65 days from the start of haylage making. Following conclusion wer made: The addition of the cellulase to lucerne caused significant decline in the values of pH and ammonia nitrogen in comparison with the control haylage. The amount of the insoluble nitrogen in the lucerne haylage, prepared by the addition of 0.4% formic acid tended to be higher.
