Lipid peroxidation, content of glutatione, phospholipids and lead in liver of lead exposed rats, treated with 75 mg/kg CaNa2EDTA and 25 mg/kg 2.3 dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), separately or in combination, were studied. The group treated with DMSA showed elevated glutathione and lead levels and reduced levels of malonic aldehyde. The combination of both drugs increased glutathione and decreased lead content but did not affect lipid peroxidation. The threatment with both medications, separately or in combination, reduced the levels of phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine but did not affect sphingomyeline and total lipids.
