Enhanced degradation of selected soil-applied herbicides in long-term experiments in orchards
2002
Eelen, H. | Rouchaud, J. | Bulcke, R. (Ghent University, Gent (Belgium))
In two field experiments located in pear orchards and with long-term repeated application of the same herbicide (diuron and chlortoluron: substituted urea family; isoxaben and propyzamide: amide family) on the same strip, the dissipation of these four herbicides mainly acting through the soil has been studied with chemical and biological methods. Using chemical methods, all four herbicides could be shown to be degraded significalntly faster on strips treated repeatedly when compared to strips treated for the same time. The degree of enhancement of degradation was highly dependent rather moderate for diuron and isoxaben
