The specific character of the medicines for fish is pointed out, especially in connection with the problems of the pharmacovigilance. A comparison of registered medicines for fish in the Czech Republic, Germany, UK, Ireland, and USA is presented. Actually, only antimicrobials (oxytetracyclin, flumechin) are registered in the Czech Republic as drugs for fish. The need of further medicines for fish is stated with the notice about the necessity of legal procedure in their authorization. Otherwise, the legalization of the use of selected chemicals considered as non-medical curative substances in fish could be advisable.
