2001

During 2000 about 2600 samples, both domestic and non-domestic products, were analysed in the national and coordinated monitoring program. This number was considerably higher than the number of samples analysed in 1999 (ca. 1500). Almost 50 % of the samples were domestic products. About 30 % came from other EU countries. Imported products in general show higher percentages of MRL (Maximum Residue Limit) -violations. In 2000 the violation rate was comparable with 1999. Dutch products contained residues above the MRL in 3,4 % of the cases, non-domestic products had violation rates of about 15 %. In 45% of the samples of domestic products the chemical analysis showed residues (with 3,4 % violations), whereas non-domestic products the analysis showed residues in 70 % (EU) and 56 % (non EU) of the cases, respectively (with 15 % violations).
