Evaluation of physico-chemical quality of fore-milk, mid-milk and strippings of Kundhi buffalo
1999
Malhi, J.D.
Study was designed to evaluate the physico-chemical buffalo milk in Tando Allahyar (Sindh) during the year 2000. A total of 300 milk samples (25 from each of fore-milk, mid-milk and stripping) were obtained. Total solids content of milk varied 13.56 to 17.71% in foremilk, 14.45 to 18.51% in mid-milk and 24.48 to 33.18% in stripping. The fats, SNF contents and specific gravity was recorded. Positive correlation was found in fat and specific gravity of milk within stripping (r = 0.773; P0.001). No significant differences in specific gravity of milk from left side or right side and/or individual quarter of the udder were found within fore-milk, mid-milk and stripping. Positive correlation was found between total solids content and fat (r 0.05). The negative correlation was occurred in between total solids content and specific gravity (r = -0.57, P0.01), in between fat and specific gravity (r 0.05).
