An experiment was conducted to study the effects of different levels of nitrogen fertilizer on the green fodder yield of maize at Students Farm, Faculty of Crop Production, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam during 1998. The seed of maize variety Akbar was broadcasted in four replicated randomized complete block design having a net plot size of 15m-2. Plant height (cm) was differed significantly (P less than =0.01) by the various nitrogen levels. Plot treated with 100, 125 and 150 N per hectare, produced higher plant height over rest of treatments. Differences in number of green leaves per plant due to different N levels was significant. Plots received 150 to N per hectare maximum green leaves per plant in comparison to the rest treatments. Number of dry leaves varied significantly over nitrogen leaves. Plots treated with no fertilizer recorded maximum dry leaves over the N treated plots. The minimum dry leaves per plant was recorded with higher application of nitrogen i.e. 150N kg per hectare. Stem thickness (cm) changed highly significantly due to different N levels. Application of N at 150 kg N Per hectare produced thicker Stem over Other treatments. Green fodder yield (kg) per plot due to N levels were highly significantly affected. Increasing N level i.e. 150 kg N per hectare produced more green fodder yield per plot and per hectare i.e. 79.25 and 52833 respectively followed by 125 kg N/ha and 100 kg N/ha. It is concluded that l00-125 kg N application is more economical than 150 kg N/ha and more kg N/ha application.
