Response of green gram (Vigna radiata L.) planted under inter and intra row spacings
2000
Samo, A.G.
The study was conducted to determine the response of green gram planted under inter and intra row spacing at Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam during summer season of 1999. Homogenous seeds of variety S-8 were planted in a four replicated RCBD to evaluate three inter row spacing (15, 30, and 45 cm) and plant spacing (5, 10, and 15 cm). A 2x3 m (6 m2) plot area was maintained. Observations were recorded on seed yield and its related characters. The data thus collected were subjected to analysis of variance, to test the discriminate of treatment mean LSD test applied. The findings show plant height affected significantly (P less than 0.01) over rows and planting while their interaction was non-significant. Seed index varied significantly (P less than 0.01) over row and plant spacing and their interaction. Seed yield/plot showed highly significant effect of row and plant spacing and their interaction. It was concluded that closer distance between rows and plants produced maximum seed yield, however individual yield related character was superior under wider row spacing.
