To compare the performance and suitability of improved varieties of Brassica juncea under Tandojam conditions [Pakistan]
2000
Khoso, S.
An experiment to investigate the performance and suitability of improved. mustard varieties (Brassica juncea) was conducted at Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam during 1998-99. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with four replications having plot size of 20.25m2 and tested P-8, P-78, S-9, S-95 and A-S varieties. The agronomic characters i.e., days to flowering, number of branches/plant, number of pod/plant, number of seed per 10 pods, seed weight/10 pods, seed index (1000 seed weight) and yield/ha were observed. Results for yield/ha was statistically highly significant. Highest yield 745 kg/ha was obtained from variety S-95 and lowest yield 565 kg/ha was obtained from variety S-9. It was concluded on the basis of observations S-95 gave more yield than the other varieties and recommended for local conditions of Tandojam.
