Greenhouse gases emission and mitigation in agriculture
2001
Faber, A. (Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation, Pulawy (Poland). Dept. of Agrometeorology and Applied Informatics)
The paper reviewed more recent papers on emission of CO2, CH4 and N2O and opportunities to offset of that emission by the soil carbon sequestration. An overview leads to hypothesis that intensive agriculture seems to be net emitter of greenhouse gases. Extensive agriculture is most likely small net sink of carbon. The shortage of data on net emission and sink increase the importance of developing reliabe methodologies for calculating net balance of greenhouse gases
