Leaf appearance and leaf senescence of winter wheat var. Almari under field conditions

The goal of the study was to determine the phyllochron and leaf senescence on the main stem. Plant samples for analyses were taken every 7-10 days from the beginning to the end of vegetation. There were 5 plants analysed towards development stage, total number of leaves on main stem and a number of leaves photosynthetic actives. For all years, number of leaves on the main stem increased linearly with cumulative degree-days. The phyllochrons for all years under study reached were averaged 105.3 deg C
