Propagation of Rosa manetti rootstock in vitro

Selected winter hardy Rosa manetti plants were propagated in vitro in shoot cultures. Gelrite used for solidification of the initial medium caused vitrification of 50 percent new shoots. Shoot proliferation was more effective from basal parts of shoots, followed by proliferation from shoot tips of 20-30 mm and 10-15 mm long. Rooting of nonvitrified shoots was effective on medium containing 1 mg/l IBA. Rooting was improved by the addition of 4 g/l activated characoal and when shoots were transfered after five days to the auxin free medium. Higher shoots formed more and longer roots. Acclimatization of rooted shoots in the greenhouse was effective in 92-96 percent
