In territory of Horna Nitra (locality near village Cerenany) in western part of the Slovak Republic, parameters of texture composition, chemical characteristics and content of heavy metals (As,Cd,Cu,Ni,Pb) were studied in two soils types (Luvic Stagnosols and Gleyic Fluvisols). According to content of particles 0.01 mm (30.43% in Luvic Stagnosols and 43.88% in Gleyic Fluvisols) soil types were loamy, with neutral of pH/KCl in humus horizons. Higher content of CaCO3 was only in humus horizon of Gleyic Fluvisols. Contamination with arsenic (As) was confirmation in humus ochric horizon (Ao) of Gleyic Fluvisols (33.6 mg/kg) where is concentration exceed limit value B. Contamination with other heavy metals was not confirmed. Obtained results confirmed contamination caused by consequence of anthropogenic source
