By 1999, the Yugoslav Commision recognised 15 barley varieties grown in Cereals Centre. At present, spring brewing barley varieties Kraguj, Dunavac and Dinarac sre being produced, as well as a winter brewing barley variety Jagodinac. In co-operation with certain organizations, the Centre produces all categories of seed. This year, recognition of 6 new lines of spring two-rowed barley and one line of winter brewing barley is going to be taken in consideration. Apart from that, 3 new lines of winter barley and 3 lines of spring two-rowed barley are being tested by the Commission. With the aim to get ready for the Commission tests, 36 new lines have been tested in micro tests at the Cereals Centre in the two-year period. Grain yield and some characteristics of grain quality of some of these lines are presented in the paper.
