In the period of 1994-1998 the new varieties (Neoplanta, Petra, Riesling early) and clones of Riesling Italian (SK-13, SK-54, and SK-61) were investigated. As a standard served the population variety of Riesling Italian. Investigations included: growth and maturation of sprouts, fertility and quality of grape in the first five years of young plants growth. In the area of Belgrade (Serbia&Montenegro) exists favourable conditions for growth of these varieties and clones. The best characteristics showed variety Neoplanta. Interspecies varieties Petra and Riesling early showed the greatest rankness, poorer fertility and medium grape quality. The new clones of Riesling significantly exceed variety population by fertility. The best yield and quality of grape gives clone SK-54.
