In this paper, the results of two-year research (2000 and 2001) regarding the yield and quality of white mustard seed obtained from three soil types (chernozem, alluvium and marsh dark soil) are presented. The highest yield was achieved on chernozem soil type in the second year of investigation, and the lowest on marsh dark soil in the first investigation year. During both years of investigations the best results were achieved on chernozem soil type and the lowest on marsh dark soil. Regarding the quality of seed (germination energy and total germination), the best results were obtained also on chernozem soil type in the second year of investigation, whereas the porest quality was determined in seed from marsh dark soil in 2000. The greatest mass was determined in seed from chernozem soil type in 2001, whereas the lowest mass of seed was obtained from march dark soil in the first investigation year. In principle, seed obtained in the second investigation year had better traits compared to seed from the first investigation year, with exception in case of seed from alluvium soil type which had better germination energy than seed from the same soil type obtained in 2001.
