The purpose of this review was to present and discuss methods and indices used to characterize soil structure and texture by means of fractal analysis. The method of determination of fractal dimensions based on Sierpinski carpet model and the box counting is described. A planar soil samples of the loam clay soil are evaluated by method of image analysis and surface fractal dimension of solid partitions and pores are determined.
