The aim of investigation was to establish the effect of different type and amount of herbicides on microbial activity in corn rhizosphere. On average, all herbicides had been most inhibiting for the total number of microorganisms, numbers of ammonifiers, fungi, actinomycetes, azotobacter, oligonitrophilic bacteria and dehydrogenase activity. Inhibitory action of herbicides has increased in proportion with the amount applied. Herbicide inhibitory effect has been most pronounced 15 days after treatment.
