Contents of essential and predominantly toxic elements in wheat grown on chernozem

Grains and straw of winter wheat on the chernozem soil have been analyzed for the content of 23 elements. Samples were taken from seven long-term stationary trials that included different crop rotations and fertilization methods. The obtained results showed that the contents of biogenous elements ranged within the expected limits. Accumulation of toxic metals in grains and straw was not registered. In a total of 32 grain samples, As was detected in one sample, Cd in 14, Pb in seven. Hg was not detected in any grain or straw sample.
