Effect of rearing method on reproduction ability of female replacement pigs

A trial with 64 gilts from Danube White and Landrace breeds was conducted, following the described scheme: I group - 10 gilts, rasing in individual pens; II, III and IV groups - in groups of 8, 16 and 28 gilts in pen. The aim of the study was to examine the effect of technological system and the gilts' breed on the age of I, II and III estrus and the running of the sexual cycles. It was establish that average age for all controlled gilts of first estrus was 189.9 days. These, reared in individual pens and small groups came into first estrus earlier than gilts, reared in large (of 18 and 28) groups. At the mixed rearing the Danube White gilts have came into the first, second and third estrus with 7.7, 10.8 and 12.3 days earlier then the Landrace gilts.
