The paper deals with climate change issue as one of the most serious contemporary environmental threats. Climate change links with agriculture are analyzed in the global and regional context. Most of the Central and East European (CEE) countries, by ratifying Kyoto protocol have committed themselves to serious emission reductions. In order to meet Kyoto standards, the CEE countries have adopted a complex policy mix, including various agricultural policy measures. A comparative analysis of the region-specific climate change policies, connected with agriculture and forestry, has been made in order to present how EU accession countries are preparing to fulfill their international obligations.
