Anovulation and delayed ovulation are major causes of repeat breeding in high yielding dairy cows and remain undiagnosed unless serious attention is given through repeated per rectum examination during the same oestrous cycle. The reproductive failure due to the deficiency of LH secretion at appropriate time after oestrus in crows and heifers. Clinical treatment with Gn-RH (Gonadorelin or Buserelin) which stimulates LH secretion normally alleviates ovulatory disturbances and increases conception rate. Evidence of Gn-RH activity present in the human placental extract had led the postulation that this protein extract would also stimulate LH secretion as that of other Gn-RH. However, the use of human placental extract has not been reported yet for stimulating ovulation except the first report during the VII National Convention of ISSAR. Hence, it was imperative to understand the efficacy of human placental extract for induction ovulation in repeat breeding animals related to LH insufficiency.
