An experiment was conducted during November 1991 and 1992 at Kalyani, to evaluate the performance of 4 cultivars ('TG 19A, 'TAG 24', 'JL 24' and 'TGS 1') in relation to sources (gypsum, pyrite, single superphosphate) and levels of S (0 and 30 kg/ha). Highest yield was observed with 'TG 19A', followed by 'JL 24'. The yield and yield components were lower in 'TAG 24' and 'TGS 1. Oil yields were greater with 'JL 24' and 'TGS 1 " being at par with each other. Gypsum and single superphosphate sources performed better and recorded significantly higher yield and yield-attributing characters over pyrites. Sulphur-containing treatments improved all characters except haulm yield.
