Susceptibility of paddy hybrids for Rhizopertha dominica (Fab.)

Fourteen paddy hybrids stored at ambient conditions in plastic containers and maintaining Adt 36 variety of paddy as a check, were screened for susceptibility to Lesser grain borer, Rhizopertha dominica (Fab.). The initial moisture content of paddy varied from 11.90 to 12.60 Periodical observations at monthly intervels up to 300 days after storage and the whole sample analysis for infestation and per cent weight loss based on number and weight of healthy and infested grains revealed higher number of insect emergence from CoRH2, PA6201 and PAC801. The per cent weight loss of 19.35, 18.58 and 17.88 per cent respectively. The paddy variety, Adt36 and the hybrids, CNRH3 APH2 TNRH31 recorded the lower weight loss of 0.30, 1.60, 2.35 and 2.44 per cent respectively in a storage period
