Computations of rations for poultry are based on the protein and energy content of feedstuffs. In recent years, the importance of balancing and meeting the requirements of limiting amino acids, viz lysine and methionine in the rations of monogastric animals has gained importance. The lysine and methionine content of different feedstuffs used in the ration formulation are based on the reports on NRC and ISI standards at present. However, the lysine and methionine content of protein-rich feedstuffs available in Namakkal area have not been evaluated. The present study was undertaken to analyse these feedstuffs for protein, lysine and methionine.
