Post-partum gonadotropins in suckled and weaned buffaloes
2001
Arya, J.S. | Madan, M.L. (Gujarat Agriculture University, Anand (India). Livestock Research Station)
Post-partum resumption of reproductive cyclicity is earlier in weaned as compared to the suckled buffaloes. Pulsatile release of Luteinising hormone (LH) is a pre-requisite for resumption of post-partum reproductive activity and suckling and milking stimuli are reported to affect the LH levels in cattle. However, no information is available for buffaloes on such parameters. The present study, therefore, reports on the effect of suckling and milking stimuli on gonadotropins (FSH and LH) in post-partum buffaloes.
