The target of the research is to learn and evaluate the impact of accrued foreign investments on the development of companies representing agriculture, forestry and food industry. To achieve the set target the research covers a ten-year period, i.e. from 1992 up to 2001. Foreign investments in Latvia are attracted to promote the development of domestic enterprises. Summarizing and evaluating the results of the research it was concluded that the food industry enterprises have received the the greatest amount of foreign investments, where the amount of foreign investments accrued in the equity capital of particular enterprises exceeds 48.9 million Lats on 31 December, 2001 in comparison with the agrarian enterprises where the corresponding figure exceeds only 1.4 million Lats. The increase of GDP greatly depends on the amount of accured foreign investments only in the sector representing forestry, while the amount of accured foreign investments influences only the export of wood and cork products.
