To find out the cost of production and to highlight the constraints in broiler production in Pishin district, the present survey was undertaken in the month of June 2002. For primary information interviews of ten broiler farmers were conducted at their premises in the study area. The cost of production of broiler was calculated on the basis of 1000 chicks/flock. Overall, the total costs of keeping a broiler flock of 1000 birds in district Pishin were computed to be Rs. 57,700 with net income of Rs. 6,425 per flock. Generally five broiler flocks per year are kept in the area which give the net income of Rs. 32,125 per year. The benefit-cost ratio Was 1.11:1. From the above results it can be concluded that broiler farming is a profitable business in the area and there is a capacity for enhancing the broiler farming in the area. The results revealed that there are still some constraints which must be overcome to boost up broiler farming in the area on large scale and increase net return to the broiler farmers. It may also be a source of employment to people as well. Number of constraints are eroding the farmers income and yield. The survey indicated the absence of chick hatchery, feed mill, harsh climatic conditions and diseases.
