Seeding dates were super imposed, while tillage operations performed are plough at 10 inches depth (PL), sweep cultivator at 6 inches depth (Sc), chisel cultivator at 8 inches depth (CC) and double discer at 4 inches depth (DD). Five seeding dates were September 19, 26, October 03, 10 and 17, 1989. Highest yield was obtained on the initially ploughed strips (1815.6 kg/ha) followed by sweep cultivator (1625.0 kg/ha). October 3 seeding date was significantly higher than the two weeks previous and two week after seeding. There was no significant difference in 1000-seed weight due to tillage or seeding dates. The effect of tillage and seeding dates on rapeseed oil content was not significant. Lower levels were found in the seed from the double discer as compared to other. The October 3 seeding date had a lower level of glucosinolates compared to other two earlier and two later dates.
