The variability of wild-growing popultions of Hypericum perforatum L. and Hypericum maculatum Cr. with special respect to their usable traits

Analysed species and populations of Hyparicum differed in morphological and developmental features (experiments in the ex situ conditions), i.e. the number of shoots per one plant, the area of leaves and petals, and the mass of the herb. The differences in distribution and size of secretory structures ('glands') of hypericin and essential oil on the leaves and petals of particular populations were observed. That diversity had not influence of biologically active compounds in the herb. The differences in anatomy of leaves, petals and stems of four chosen populations of Hypercium were not found. The analysis of populations, showed their diversity on molecular level. There were no populations with zero genetic similarity. The characteristic DNA fragments for populations with the highest content of hypericin and its derivatives and flavonols were found
