Effect of stocking density and short duration of restricted feeding on performance results and slaughter value of broiler chickens

It was found that stocking density per 1 square m had a significant influence on the body weight and quality of broiler carcasses. An increase in bird stocking density per area unit was accompanied by a decrease in body weight gains, but at the same time by an improvement of the quality of their carcasses, lower fatness and better relative musculature. Feeding with a ration restricted by 30 percent in comparison with feeding ad libitum did not cause any reduction of feed consumption but caused a decrease in unwanted carcass fatness. Compared with hens, cockerels were characterized by a greater body weight, which resulted in a greater carcass and lean weight and lower percentage of fat in the carcass
