In this paper, physiopathology of calf diarrhoea is reminded and updated, focusing on dehydration, acidosis, electrolyte abnormalities and negative energy balance. Next, it is esplained how to practically assess and correct these troubles on the field. Particular attention is given to oral fluid therapy and its recent improvements. As an illustration, some oral rehydration solutions are critically investigated. The polemical question about continuing milk feeding or not is debated
