The conference was conceived as a forum to facilitate open discussion that would highlight and prioritize the key questions, share knowledge and experience and further the present discussion on the process of establishing an appropriate framework for regulating access to genetic resources at the national level and facilitating a coordinated approach in the Western and Central Africa subregion.
