2004
Tubeileh, A. | Bruggeman, A. | Turkelboom, F. (ICARDA, Aleppo (Syria)
This book presents a review of the agro-ecological requirements and the limiting factors to olive production, identifies olive varieties best suited to the harsh environment in the dry areas, and provides recommendations for increased olive production under scarce-water conditions. Based on ICARDA's research activities in the Khanasser Valley, Syria, the book makes suggestions on possible alternative tree species that can provide additional livelihood options for the poor in marginal dry environments. This publication will be of considerable value to olive researchers, and those working on aspects of water-use efficiency, food security and diversified income generation for the people living in the marginal dry areas
