Experiment was conducted at Phrae Rice Research Center in 1991/92 and Sanpatong Rice Experiment Station in 1992/93 and 1994/95 to study on planting methods of wheat Samoeng2 in zero tillage paddy field. Pre-soaked seeds and dried seeds were broadcasted on different soil moisture content. Results showed that seed soaking had no effect on number of established plants, seed numbers per spike and one thousand grain weight but it showed effect on number of spike. Average number of established plants was lower than 300 plants per square m. In 1991/92 and 1994/95 planting methods showed no effect on yield. But in 1992/93 broadcasting dried seeds gave high yield (270-308 kg per rai). Late planting in 1994/95 resulted in low seed number per spike (25 seeds per spike) and one thousand grain weight (less than 30 g). Appropriate planting method appeared to be broadcasting dried seed on saturated soil.
