Pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of Calothrix and phosphorus fertilizer on growth and yield of rice variety Suphanburi 90 grown on paddy soil from Nonthaburi Province. Results showed that algal biofertilizer (Calothrix) increased significantly the number of tillers and grain yield. Application of phosphate fertilizer tended to improve rice growth. The combination of Calothrix biofertilizer and phosphate fertilizer was more effective in increasing rice growth and grain yield than that of either algal biofertilizer or phosphate fertilizer treated plants. The highest productivity of grain yield (20.38 g/plant or 37.88 percent over the control) was obtained when Calothrix biofertilizer was applied and fertilized with 6 kg P2O5/ha.
