All-female broodstock of Pla Duk Oui (Clarias macrocephalus) were successfully produced by oral administration of beta-estradiol (beta-EST) orimmersion treatments with beta-estradiol and Diethylstilbestrol (DES). The optimal method to produce all-female fish with the highest survival rate was administration of 50 ppm beta-estradiol in the food between 1 and 6 weeks after hatching or immersion treatment with beta-estradiol (200 ug/l) for 4 weeks from day 7 post-hatching. Both methods had on effect no the total length, gonadosomatic index (GSI) and gonad of females. Immmersion treatment with DES although produced all-female, but caused high mortality.
